چکیده

background and aims: crimean-congo hemorrhagic fever (cchf) is a zoonosis caused by a nairovirus of the family bunyaviridae. infection is transmitted to humans mostly by hyalomma ticks. this study was conducted to determine the rate of cchfv infection in ticks in qom province of iran. materials and methods: in this study, reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction (rt-pcr) was used to detect partial sequence of the cchf small (s) genome segment in ticks. results: cchfv genome was found in 7.9% of hard ticks. all positive ticks were from hyalomma genus and hyalomma marginatum species. we were not able to find virus in in hy. anatolicum, hy. schulzei, hy. dromedarii, rhipicephalus sanguineus and argas persicus. conclusion: results exhibited that hyalomma marginatum is the main vector in the study area.

No Detection of Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) Virus in Ticks from Kerman Province of Iran

Introduction: Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is a fatal tick-borne viral zoonosis with a case fatality rate of 5% to 30%. CCHF has been documented as the most frequent tick-borne viral infection in Iran with more than 50 cases annually. Kerman Province in the south of Iran is one of the CCHF-endemic areas of the country, but no data on infection of ticks with this virus from this area i...

No Detection of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus in Hard Ticks (Ixodidae) from a Highly Endemic Area in Southeast Iran

Introduction: Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is a zoonotic viral infection transmitted mainly via CCHF virus-infected ticks between vertebrate hosts. The disease occurs in almost all provinces of Iran. This study investigated the CCHFV infection in hard ticks collected from livestock in the Sistan region of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeast of Iran. Methods: In this study, tick...

Molecular Assay on Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus in Ticks (Ixodidae) Collected from Kermanshah Province, Western Iran

BACKGROUND Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is a feverous and hemorrhagic disease endemic in some parts of Iran and caused by an arbovirus related to Bunyaviridae family and Nairovirusgenus. The main virus reservoir in the nature is ticks, however small vertebrates and a wide range of domestic and wild animals are regarded as reservoir hosts. This study was conducted to determine the infe...

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus in Hyalommid Ticks, Northeastern Kenya

As part of ongoing arbovirus surveillance, we screened ticks obtained from livestock in northeastern Kenya in 2008 to assess the risk for human exposure to tick-borne viruses. Of 1,144 pools of 8,600 Hyalomma spp. ticks screened for Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever virus by reverse transcription PCR, 23 pools were infected, demonstrating a potential for human exposure.

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus in Ticks, Southwestern Europe, 2010

To the Editor: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV; family Bunyaviridae, genus Nairovirus) causes outbreaks of severe hemorrhagic fever in humans, with case-fatality rates <30% (1,2). The disease was initially recognized by Russian scientists in the 1940s (3), and the virus was fi rst isolated in the Democratic Republic of Congo some years later (4). CCHFV is reported throughout broad ...
